Release Notes
View major changes between the beta version and version 1.5 here.
Version 1.5.0.015 - Thursday, January 7, 2008
- New: License Manager allows you to release your own license, or other licenses that you purchased, even if in use by other users. This allows you to free up licenses as required and make them available for others.
- New: Password reminder for new users.
- Fixed: Sometimes Sync Warnings would appear with empty filenames.
- Fixed: Sometimes files could not be checked in.
Version 1.5.0.014 - Thursday, October 18, 2007
- Fixed: Trying to start a new instance of Syncura will bring the old instance to the foreground.
- Fixed: Bug introduced in last release caused backup files to be created when they didn't need to be when Syncura transitioned to online.
Version 1.5.0.013 - Wednesday, October 17, 2007
- Fixed: Sometimes when saving large Excel files, the message "Unable to delete file 'xxx' because it is locked by another application" would appear. This error caused other peers in the workspace to be unable to sync the file. This error would also happen when a shared file is renamed over another shared file.
Version 1.5.0.012 - Sunday, October 14, 2007
- Fixed: Sometimes the workspace treeview would not resize correctly and was not visible.
- Fixed: In certain situations it was possible for Syncura to continually query another peer for the same file, but not download the file.
- Fixed: A potential crash when syncing a file.
- Fixed: Sometimes files would not sync and would be stuck in the "Queued" state if a remote peer stopped responding, but the registration server still reported the peer as online.
Version 1.5.0.011 - Tuesday, July 24, 2007
- Fixed: When re-installing Syncura as a fresh install (e.g. on a new computer) and when trying to re-register with a valid license key, if there were already 3 computers registered, the license key was incorrectly rejected.
- Fixed: In some cases files did not appear in the Syncura window, even though they were there in Windows Explorer, were shared, and were being properly synchronized.
Version 1.5.0.009 - Monday, March 26, 2007
- New: Advanced setting to choose NOT to send deleted files to Recycle Bin and instead permanently delete the files. This option is off by default, so deleted files are still sent to Recycle Bin. For workspaces where many files are added and deleted, this will save the Recycle Bin from growing too large.
- New: Advanced setting to add more verbose logging.
- Improved: Deletion of many files is about 50 times faster. Deleting thousands of files used to take awhile. For example, deleting 3000 files used to take up to 20 minutes. When combined with the option to permanently delete files, it is now under 30 seconds.
- Fixed: Some computers with anti-virus applications install Internet filters that Syncura was incompatible with.
- Fixed: Files with ampersands were not being shared properly. This was a bug in the server and has already been implemented.
Version 1.5.0.008 - Wednesday, February 28, 2007
- Fixed - copy files to clipboard
- Fixed - Individual renamed files not renamed (bug introduced in build 007).
- Fixed - If empty folders are missing when startup Syncura and you choose to download them, Syncura will now create the empty folders.
Version 1.5.0.007 - Monday, February 26, 2007
- Fixed - If many files or folders were moved at same time, Syncura would miss a few move operations, and they weren't moved until restart of Syncura on the computer that moved the files
- Fixed - In some situations, files have the Queued status when they should have the No Peers status. If this is happening to you, both you and your teammates or other computers on the team workspace must upgrade to this version.
Version 1.5.0.006 - Tuesday, February 20, 2007
- The biggest change in this version is the introduction of synchronization warnings.
A synchronization warning is logged whenever Syncura is unable to keep your local workspace
in sync. Warnings are normally created because of locked files and version conflicts.
When a warning is logged, an alert is displayed and an interface is provided to resolve it.
For example, if a Microsoft Word document is locked because you happen to be viewing it, and another person
in the workspace updates the document at the same time, Syncura will not be able to overwrite the file
with the new version until you close it.
A warning will be logged. The file can be synced to the latest version by opening the warning and
choosing to sync the file.
- Added drag and drop functionality to files and folders in main window
- Can cut, copy, and paste files and folders in main window
- Synchronization of empty folders
Version 1.5.0.005 - Tuesday, January 23, 2007
- Fixed - If many thousands of files were added, deleted, or changed, Syncura would miss a few, and they weren't added until restart of Syncura
- Fixed - two rare crashes if adding and syncing many files at same time
- If try to invite yourself to a team, warning message appears saying you can't invite yourself, and must use the 'Add Existing Workspace" link from the computer you want to add to a team workspace
Version 1.5.0.004 - Monday, January 11, 2007
- Amount of logging to log file reduced to only log errors
- Performance - Length of time to start application with many thousands of files has been improved
- Performance - Length of time to join a new team with many thousands of files has been improved
- If there are no subfolders in root shared folder, the main window will not display the root folder in the treeview on the left, since all files are shown when click on the team level node anyways
- If manually disconnect from server, will disconnect from any connected peers as well.
- Handles files locked by antivirus software better
- When first start, status bar didn't show total amount of data to be synchronized sometimes
- Fixed a crash when there are lots of files and lots of peers
- Better reporting when there is a crash, log file contains location of crash
- Syncura used to attempt "discovery" connections to all peers before starting to sync files. Syncura would check to see which peers it had direct connections to and use those peers to get the files from. If there were lots of peers with proxy connections this could take awhile (up to 15 seconds per peer)
Now, Syncura assumes that a connection type of direct versus proxy is the same as last time and starts to sync files right away. The discovery happens in parallel. If a connection type changes (e.g. from proxy to direct) and Syncura is already syncing files with that peer, it will disconnect and connect directly.
- When signup on website, then download Syncura and respond to invitation, Syncura displayed error "The operation completed successfully." Then the user wasn't added to the team.
Version 1.5.0.002 - Friday, January 5, 2007
- Status bar didn't report full amount of files to be downloaded when a new peer came online and files had status No Peers
- Windows 2000: fixed installation errors
- Windows 2000: team name drop down menu in Options dialog didn't expand properly
- Increased performance of downloading team files and local files are already the latest version
- The log file in the application folder includes less information (after a few months the log file was getting to be quite large)
- Added horizontal scroll bars to list boxes in Options dialog
- Fixed bug where subfolders moved into a shared folder weren't detected until after restart Syncura
- If a local file is locked (e.g. it is open in Excel) and Syncura cannot overwrite it with a new version, it no longer appends - Master Version to the file. Instead, the temporray .syn file is left in the folder, and a message is displayed to the user via a balloon info message asking the user to close the file and then manually select Synchronize for the file in the main Syncura window. Syncura will then rename the .syn file to the real filename instead of downloading the file again.
